Some Portlaoise rail services cancelled this evening

Irish Rail has cancelled some services to Portlaoise this afternoon.

The national rail carrier announced that the  16:20 Heuston - Portlaoise is cancelled as is the 18:28 Portlaoise - Heuston train.

The cancellations were announced on Irish Rail's twitter page.  A spokesperson for Irish Rail staffing issues had impacted the train service.

“This was due to a staff availability issue which occurred at short notice today, and we apologise to customers affected.”

“We have worked to minimise the impact: of our 28 daily services in each direction between Portlaoise and Heuston, only one train in each direction has been cancelled, and we have added stops onto Intercity services to address the cancellation,” the spokesperson said.
