A woman was sentenced to community service for an assault in Laois.

Carrie Orr, 27, of 2 Featherbed Lane, Borris-in-Ossory had pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to a woman at O’Malley’s, Main Street in Rathdowney on July 2, 2022.

Solicitor Philip Meagher said his client had engaged with probation services and was deemed suitable for community service. He said she would welcome the opportunity to carry out community service.

Judge Nicola Andrews imposed 150 hours of community service in lieu of six months in prison.

“I hope that that is the last of the matter,” Judge Andrews said at the sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
