Gowns worn by stars including Angelina Jolie set to fetch thousands at auction

Gowns worn by Hollywood A-listers including Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway are expected to fetch thousands of pounds at auction.
Among the items up for sale is a chiffon-and-tulle pleated dress with a floor-length drape cape worn by Jolie, 49, to the UK premiere of Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil in 2019, which has an estimated selling price of £4,000 to £6,000.

The dress, which also features a matching cape, handcut silk organza petals and pleated tulle ruffles, could fetch up to £8,000, according to its highest estimate.
The auction also includes a strapless gown with a structured corset worn by reality TV star Kylie Jenner to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in 2020, which is expected to sell for between £4,000 and £6,000.

Meg Randell, head of UK and Europe designer handbags and fashion at Bonhams, said: “It is a rare privilege to be able to present so many exceptional haute couture gowns from the atelier of Ralph & Russo including a selection of designs worn on the red carpet.
“The dresses are breathtaking, having been hand-embellished by the skilled hands of the former atelier, taking many hours to complete. The craftsmanship can only be compared to a spectacular work of art.

“The first fashion sale of 2025 offers a truly unique opportunity to glimpse into the magical world of haute couture.”
The online sale is taking place on the Bonhams website between January 16 and 29.
