The funeral of the late Joey Forker, the nine-year-old tragically killed on Friday in Dungloe, will take place on Thursday.

A pupil of St Crone’s National School in Dungloe, Joey’s funeral mass will take place at 12 noon in St Crona's Church, Dungloe, with interment afterwards at Magheragallon Cemetery, Gweedore.

A funeral post from McGlynn Funeral Directors stated that Joey is survived by his heartbroken parents, Audrey and Joe, loving brothers Jason and Jordan, grandparent Willie, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.

Joey will repose at McGlynn’s funeral home in Dungloe on Monday from 3pm to 6pm. Removal is strictly private to the family home and the house is strictly private at all times.

A veil of inconsolable sadness and heartbreaking grief descended on the Dungloe area and right across West Donegal on Friday, with the tragic accident involving machinery at the family's home at Meenmore that led to the loss of a young and energetic life.

Pat the Cope Gallagher TD, a friend of the family, was at the scene, where the sense of shock, the bereavement of the loss was devastating, the hearts of all present ached for the family of the deceased.

“I wish to pay tribute to all the emergency services, local fire services, HSE, Gardai and Fr Pat Ward PP Burtonport,” he said. “I humbly ask that in the days ahead that our prayers and all our moral support are guided towards helping the family of the deceased at this devastating time.”

Joey was remembered this afternoon before Dungloe’s Donegal SFC clash against Glenswilly at Pairc Naomh Columba with a minute’s silence.
