The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have confirmed to Kilkenny Live that they are investigating the death of a teenager following a work-related incident yesterday afternoon in Freshford, County Kilkenny.
A male youth, in his teens, later passed away at the scene.
Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Michael McCarthy, who is from Freshford, told Kilkenny Live that the village and the wider community are in 'a state of shock' following the incident.
"It's incredibly sad," he said. "The family are well-known and respected in the area and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this incredibly difficult time."
The HSA stated that 'no further information is available at this time'.
