Silverstrand, Bearna, county Galway
A body has been recovered from the sea during searches for two swimmers missing off Silverstrand in Bearna, Co Galway.
Two swimmers, one male and one female, were separately reported missing in the same location this Tuesday, November 12.
It's understood that the deceased, a man aged in his 70s, was reported missing this morning after he failed to return from a swim.
While attending the scene, gardaí were made aware that another person, a woman in her 30s, had also entered the water and failed to return from a swim.
According to the Irish Coast Guard, conditions at Silverstrand have been "calm but dense fog covers the area".

Gardaí have confirmed that the body of the male swimmer was recovered just before 2pm and taken to Galway docks.
According to a staatement from the Coast Gaurd, resources on scene "include Costelloe Bay Coast Guard boat, Galway Bay RNLI and Aran Island Lifeboat in addition to the Civil Defence".
Cleggan Coast Guard Unit are also on scene assessing conditions for a drone search, and a number of local boats are also searching the area in support of the search.
