Trevor Kelly (37) whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison was charged with disorderly behaviour on December 19 last year.

A man who appeared at Derry Magistrates Court after an altercation with another man was himself the victim of a similar incident recently.

Trevor Kelly (37) whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison was charged with disorderly behaviour on December 19 last year.

The court heard police were called to the scene of an altercation between two men on John Street in Derry.

Watching CCTV, police saw Kelly punch a man a number of times, knocking him to the ground. Police later arrested Kelly over the incident.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that Kelly had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and added that he himself had been a victim of an assault that was before the court last week after an incident on the Peace Bridge.

Kelly was sentenced to three months in custody.
