Massimo Giacomin was arrested after police discovered a ‘vulnerable’ 19-year-old woman at his residence

A registered sex offender has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court following a breach of his bail conditions when police found him with a woman in his residence.

Massimo Giacomin (48) of Bishop Street in Derry was on bail for charges including sexual assault and false imprisonment.

A part of his bail conditions included that he not have any female at his address, and on October 21 police found him with a nineteen year old woman who was described as 'vulnerable' and he was arrested for unrelated matters.

Police objected to bail as Giacomin is alleged to have committed new offences while released.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that Giacomin is currently awaiting trial for charges of sexual assault from September this year, charges that, he says, Giacomin denies.

It was also noted that he currently has a suspended sentence for sexual assault from March 2024.

Bail was refused and he will appear again on October 29.
