Uisce Éireann crews will carry out cleaning and maintenance works from Monday, with reduced pressure and intermittent supply possible in several areas.

Essential cleaning and maintenance works will be carried out at several reservoirs across Inishowen from this coming Monday, September 21, to Friday, September 25, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the quality and reliability of the local water supply and keep the reservoirs in good condition.

Homes and businesses in Newtowncunningham, Aughaweel, Buncrana, Milltown, Manorcunningham and surrounding areas may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent interruptions to their water supply during or shortly after the works.

Uisce Éireann crews will begin work on Monday, September 21, at the reservoir in Dooish, with works not commencing until 3pm to avoid disruption while the local school is open. The works may affect customers in the Newtowncunningham area.

Further works will take place at Aughaweel on Wednesday, September 23, which may affect customers in the Buncrana area.

Elsewhere on Thursday, September 24, crews will carry out essential works at the reservoir in Ballyliffin, before the cleaning operation concludes on Friday, September 25, with works in the Milltown, Manorcunningham area.

Where possible, Uisce Éireann crews will look to minimise disruption and restore normal water supply levels as quickly as possible.

Uisce Éireann’s Water Networks Operations Manager for Donegal, Damien O’Sullivan, said the works were part of ongoing efforts to maintain the quality and reliability of the local water supply.

“This programme of works is part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the quality and reliability of the water supply for homes and businesses across the county,” he said.

“While bypass systems are in place at some reservoirs to help minimise disruption, customers may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration, or intermittent supply during or after the works.

“Our crews will be working with care to have everything back to normal as soon as possible. We appreciate customers’ patience as we carry out these essential works.”
