Forecasters say daytime temperatures will exceed 25°C in many areas, with some locations potentially reaching 30°C on Thursday

A weather advisory has been issued as exceptionally warm conditions are set to develop across Donegal this week, with temperatures expected to climb well above seasonal averages.

Forecasters say daytime temperatures will exceed 25°C in many areas, with some locations potentially reaching 30°C on Thursday. The warm spell is expected to begin from midday on Monday and continue until Thursday morning.

Night-time temperatures are also forecast to remain unusually high, generally staying above 15°C. The combination of warmth and humidity may lead to uncomfortable sleeping conditions for many people.

There is also a risk of thunderstorms developing during the period, particularly on Thursday, as the hot and humid conditions continue.

Authorities are advising the public to take extra care during the warm weather, especially around beaches, lakes and other waterways where increased activity is expected. Heat stress and dehydration are also potential concerns, particularly for vulnerable people, young children and those working outdoors.

The advisory is in effect from 12pm on Monday, June 22, until 10am on Thursday, June 25, and applies to all of Ireland.

Members of the public are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts and any weather warnings issued in the coming days through the Met Éireann website and mobile app.
