A Tipperary secondary school has a special reason to look forward to Sunday's St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling Final, with staff and a student set to be on opposite sides

Tullaroan and the Shamrocks will go in search of Kilkenny hurling glory this weekend as they meet in the St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling Final.

The Ballyhale side are defending champions, while you have to go all the way back to 1994 for Tullaroan’s last senior crown.

Despite sharing 41 senior crowns between them, the Shamrocks (21 titles) and Tullaroan (20 titles) have never met in a county final so Sunday’s encounter will certainly be a unique one.

“Everyone at Presentation Secondary School Ballingarry would like to wish the very best of luck to our Ballyhale Shamrocks and Tullaroan representatives ahead of Sunday's Kilkenny Senior Hurling County Final,” the school posted to Instagram.

“Mr Holden and Mr Cody will be proudly representing their club, Ballyhale Shamrocks, while Dylan Breen (pictured centre) will line out for Tullaroan, just over the border from us here in Ballingarry.

“This is a unique occasion for our school, with staff and student representing two clubs competing for Kilkenny's most prestigious hurling title,” they added.

“Wishing all the players and both clubs the very best of luck for what promises to be a fantastic occasion. Bring it home!”
