A popular Galway hairdressers is closing its doors after 20 years thanking the “heartbeat of the business” - their loyal and valued customers.

Velvet Hairdressing in Barna will shut for the final time in September saying they were unable to cope with increased costs and ever changing regulations and laws for running a small business in Ireland.

They gave huge thanks to their punters who have shared stories, laughs and tears over the last two decades as well as their staff, both past and present, who became family and built the business into the success it has been since opening in the mid noughties.

Sinead Curran of Velvet Hairdressing said: “To our wonderful community, customers and team. After 20 incredible years of Velvet Hairdressing, I have made the very difficult decision to close our doors due to the increased costs of running a small business in Ireland and the constant changes to employment law and regulations.

“Our final day will be Saturday September 12.”

Sinead continued: “Two decades ago, I started this journey with a vision and a passion. I never could have imagined the incredible community that would grow with us.

“To our loyal clients: Thank you. You are the heartbeat of this business. Your smiles, trust and unwavering support through every high and low have meant the world to us. It has been an absolute honour to serve you, share stories and be part of your lives for the past 20 years.

“To our extraordinary staff, past and present: Words cannot express my gratitude. The business succeeded because of your hard work, dedication and passion. You became a family and I am incredibly proud of everything we built together. Thank you for giving your absolute best every single day.”

Sinead finished up by saying “while this chapter is ending, I take away a lifetime of beautiful memories and friendships”.

She reminded customers that they will be honouring gift cards and taking bookings as normal until their closing date in September.

“We hope to see you all in the coming weeks”, she said. “Thank you for 20 years of unforgettable support, laughter and loyalty. We will miss you all immensely.”
